When you have something to strive toward, you feel the fire in your belly to work hard and keep pushing even when it gets hard. But sometimes, you aren’t even sure what goals to make outside of just “getting into good shape.” And unfortunately, that isn’t specific enough a goal to really be effective.

So to help spark your imagination and give you ideas about what kind of long-term fitness goals you can reach for, here’s a long (but helpful) list of potential fitness bucket list items that you can dream about achieving sometime in the future:

  • Do one or more pull-ups
  • Run a Spartan race or a marathon
  • Complete a certain hike in your area
  • Do the splits
  • Run a 5k in 30 minutes
  • Run a mile in 7 minutes
  • Squat your body weight
  • Deadlift twice your body weight
  • Learn to surf
  • Do an Ironman
  • Stand in the front row in Zumba class
  • Do a headstand or handstand
  • Master a new swimming stroke
  • Do your age number of push-ups
  • Do yoga every day for a month
