Peloton is, without a doubt, the most popular stationary bike in the world, but the company behind it had to do some major damage control thanks to Sex and the City. The revival of the beloved show, titled And Just Like That, got everyone talking about Peloton again… but why?

Major spoilers ahead, but one of the most beloved Sex and the City characters dies in the very first episode of the revival. Mr. Big (Chris Noth) collapsed and had a heart attack after taking a Peloton class, causing a significant fall in the company’s share value.

Peloton tried to clear their name by releasing an official statement, citing other factors that may have led to Mr. Big’s heart attack. His extravagant lifestyle—including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks—may have played a big factor, along with his previous cardiac event in Season 6.

Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, a member of Peloton’s health and wellness advisory council, also reminded viewers that “Peloton helps you track heart rate while you ride, so you can do it safely”, adding Big’s death is a lesson to everyone to talk to their doctor and have a healthy prevention strategy.

Peloton’s damage control didn’t end there and Noth even agreed to help them clear their name. He starred in an ad titled “He’s Alive” alongside Peloton instructor Jess King, which ends with him saying, “Shall we take another ride? Life is too short not to.”

The ad also featured a voiceover from Ryan Reynolds, who reminded everyone watching that regular cycling reduces your risk of cardiovascular diseases, by strengthening your heart muscles, lowering resting pulse, and reducing blood fat levels.

The ad was later removed, de to allegations against Chris Noth.
