]]>Fitness has been an essential part of Holland’s acting process since he landed his first major role in Billy Elliot the Musical at London’s Victoria Palace Theatre. He spent two years practicing ballet, tap dancing, and acrobatics before he was finally ready to take the stage, and the extensive preparation process remained a major part of many of his later roles.
Training with Duffy Gaver for the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home was definitely his biggest challenge, and his “monster workout” involved getting up at 5 a.m. ahead of a 12-hour workday.
“We got into crazy shape. We were so fit. A Monday morning would be this hour-long workout: one pullup, two dips, three pushups, four sit-ups, five squats – that’s round one – and you basically go all the way up to 10, so the last round is 10, 20, 30, 40, 50. And then you’ll go all the way back down to 1,” he told Men’s Health.
Holland also dropped some hints about his diet, revealing he usually eats just one home-cooked meal a day, adding it’s a challenge to make a shift to “Spartan meals” when he’s trying to bulk of up for roles.

The actor performed them in this order, without rest between raps, and only took a 60-second break after finishing pushups and moving on to the next set. He repeated this cycle as many times as he could during each session, and performed several moves with a pair of dumbbells in hand.
After No Way Home, Holland is set to appear in Uncharted alongside Mark Wahlberg. His workout routine for this project was even more intense because he wanted his physical frame to rival Wahlberg’s.
“I was in good shape, but I wasn’t by any means big. We went home for five months, all I did was eat and train, eat and train, eat and train – to put a bit of timber on, to make me look not like a child next to Mark,” Holland told Total Film.
