At enjoyable as it is to do your workouts outdoors, there can be potential downfalls to it as well. During the summer months, the temperature can rise to scathing proportions, especially in warmer cities. Exercising outdoors in hot weather is doable, but it must be done wisely and with proper planning. Here’s how to be safe while working out in hot weather.

Drink Plenty of Cold Water

Even when the weather isn’t hot, it’s important to drink a lot of water while exercising. Therefore, all the more so when the temperature is sunny as ever. Not only should you drink plenty of water, and make sure that you have some by your side at all times, but you should make sure that it’s ice cold as well.

Monitor Yourself

It’s always important to monitor the way you feel while working out and this is crucial when doing so outdoors in hot weather. If you start to feel faint, this is no time to suck it up.

If you’re playing a competitive game with others, you might feel peer pressured to keep going, for fear of looking soft—but this is a very dangerous mindset. The second you start to feel woozy, immediately stop what you’re doing and take a break. No game or workout is worth it.
