]]>Byrne’s latest project centers on “a woman struggling in her life as a quietly tortured housewife, [who] find an unconventional path to power through an unlikely source: the world of aerobics.” To prepare for the role, Byrne had to welcome this 80s workout into her own life and fell in love with it along the way.
The Emmy-nominated actress discussed her preparation process with Shape and revealed she completed three months of aerobics training to get ready for her role in Physical. She worked out alongside her choreographer Jennifer Hamilton via Zoom, and said she “never regretted doing one of those classes” and that “they always felt fantastic”.
The dance-inspired workouts included dynamic stretching and shifted from low-impact exercises to high-energy routines as Byrne got stronger. She even admitted being “lazy” in regard to exercise before discovering aerobics training and said this routine gave her a motivational boost she needed to keep working out.
