Have you seen the black and yellow strap apparatuses hanging from your gym or local studio and wondered what they were? They’re called TRX Suspension Trainers and they connect to a single anchor point like a door, wall, ceiling, or mount and you use your body weight to perform the exercises. The TRX system was created by Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick as a way to stay in shape while he was deployed overseas. The first prototype was created by connecting a jiu-jitsu belt to a parachute. The TRX Suspension Trainers are a great way to work your entire body and they don’t require any additional equipment. Here are five reasons to start training with them.

It’s Portable

All you need is a door, wall, or ceiling to hang it and you don’t need a lot of space to use it. You can take them anywhere which allows you to bring your workout wherever you go.

Over 300 Exercises

With just this one piece of equipment you can do over 300 exercises! These exercises use your body weight, giving you a full-body workout. When you buy a TRX Suspension Trainer, you’ll get a one-year subscription to the TRX App which has videos and photos of all the exercises as well as how to do them.

Core Workout

Since the TRX is anchored to a single point, you’ll have to engage your core to resist it rotating and to stabilize the TRX. Even when you’re not doing an ab workout, you’ll be using your core.

Change Point Instability

Based on the sport you’re training for, you can change the instability based on whether you put your hands or feet in the TRX handles.

Change the Load

When lifting, if the weights are too heavy, you have to take them off and re-rack them, but with the TRX, if the exercise is too challenging, all you have to do is change the angle you’re performing the move in. You can do this by moving your feet or arms either closer or farther away from the anchor point.

ACTIVE PLANK Here is an excellent example of what an active plank position looks like during a #trx workout. You are probably thinking that a plank is about being on the floor but no. An active plank is a position held through a majority of movements making sure the body is neutral all relevant muscles active. ▪ Here in the TRX Chest Press excellently performed in one of my classes recently by @hobbsholistichealth and @nicolajohns33 you can see how the active plank is made. On toes due to the forward angle, glutes engaged, flat back, head in neutral alignment. ▪ Think body like a surfboard. The body is flat and works as one so neutral spine and the correct muscles can work (chest and arms) in this exercise, as well as core with all TRX exercises. ▪ So always remember when working with the TRX, am I in the correct starting and finishing positions? are the relevant muscles engaged? Ask yourself questions so you, your clients and others perform every rep of every exercise correctly. @trx_uk @trxtraining @bodymachineps . . . #trxinstructor #trxclasses #trxclass #trxforANYBODY #trxuk #trxtrainer #trx4 #trxfamily #trxstrength #trxworkout #trxsuspensiontraining #trxcoach #trxfitness #trxsuspensiontrainer #trxtraining #trxexercises #trxworkouts #trxcore #trxlovers #trx_uk #trxchestpress #trxactiveplank #weareTRX #suspensiontraining #suspensiontrainer #breathefitness #bodymachineps #londonfitness
