It was David Henry Thoreau who said “an early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day”. And we are here to agree with him! Start each morning with a power walk and you will feel the benefits all day long. Here’s why.

Boost Your Mood

Getting outside first thing in the morning can do wonders for your mental well-being. Being out in nature, breathing fresh air, and getting to watch the rest of the world wake up is always a happy way to start the day. Plus, you can listen to your favorite mood-boosting podcast or playlist.

Improve Your Fitness

Power walking is great for improving stamina, flexibility, and strengthening your muscles. It can also help with healthy weight loss goals and is a super satisfying way to get your exercise for the day done before 9 am! Be sure to walk briskly for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week.

Feel Energized

Studies show that people who take a morning walk feel more energized and have more mental clarity and focus during their working day. So put down your phone and coffee, pop your trainers on, and head out the door instead!

Improve Your Posture

Sitting all day at a desk can be very harmful to our posture and can often lead to back, neck, and shoulder pain. Walking each morning is fantastic for your bone and muscle health and helps to reduce aches and pains. Doing some stretching after your walk will also help avoid that bad back.

Sometimes, the biggest hurdle we have when it comes to achieving our goals is that we try to achieve too much too fast. We try to reach the mountaintop before actually climbing the darn thing. Things in life take time, and nothing worth its salt ever rewarded itself without a healthy dose of hard work. However, hard work can also come in the form of taking it easy—which is why you shouldn’t turn your nose up at the benefits of walking.

Slow and Steady

We all know the children’s tale of the tortoise and the hare. The speedy hare challenges the slow tortoise to a race, and is so cocky that he doesn’t even try. Ultimately, his hubris leads to the tortoise winning the race, due to the tortoise’s slow and steady gait. It’s the same thing with working out. There’s no need to get cocky and try to do too much too fast. From a health perspective, there’s so much that can be accomplished just by walking.

What’s Right For You

Sure, if you’re not feeling challenged enough, then by all means, start jogging around the block. But if you’re not quite up to it just yet, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with starting out with a half hour walk along the beach. If you’re trying to get into shape and find it hard to run, the best thing you can do for yourself is to just walk, walk, and walk some more!

Forcing yourself to start your day with physical activity isn’t an easy task, but you can always make time for a short walk. Morning walks come with a long list of benefits for your mind, body, and soul, and here are three reasons why you should give them a shot.

Energy Boost

If you’re looking for a way to start your day on a high note, walking will get you there. This activity may give you the energy boost you need to make it through the day. Setting your alarm 20 minutes earlier to go for a short walk will pay off big-time because you’ll feel more energetic after it.

Better Mood

In addition to being good for your physical health, walking comes with a long list of mental health benefits. It can help you boost your mood and reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue. Walking can also help you improve mental clarity, which comes in handy if you have a long and stressful day at work ahead of you.

Short Workout

Morning workouts are extremely popular with people with a busy schedule because they allow them to complete their physical activity before the day even starts. If doing a full workout doesn’t seem appealing to you, going for a walk is always an option, and it lets you add some physical activity to your day before other obligations derail your plans.
