Walking Every Day Does More Than You Think

Sometimes, the biggest hurdle we have when it comes to achieving our goals is that we try to achieve too much too fast. We try to reach the mountaintop before actually climbing the darn thing. Things in life take time, and nothing worth its salt ever rewarded itself without a healthy dose of hard work. However, hard work can also come in the form of taking it easy—which is why you shouldn’t turn your nose up at the benefits of walking.

Slow and Steady

We all know the children’s tale of the tortoise and the hare. The speedy hare challenges the slow tortoise to a race, and is so cocky that he doesn’t even try. Ultimately, his hubris leads to the tortoise winning the race, due to the tortoise’s slow and steady gait. It’s the same thing with working out. There’s no need to get cocky and try to do too much too fast. From a health perspective, there’s so much that can be accomplished just by walking.

What’s Right For You

Sure, if you’re not feeling challenged enough, then by all means, start jogging around the block. But if you’re not quite up to it just yet, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with starting out with a half hour walk along the beach. If you’re trying to get into shape and find it hard to run, the best thing you can do for yourself is to just walk, walk, and walk some more!
