Even if you’re not a professional athlete, you’ve surely heard of the concept of taking an ice bath after a major workout (or at least seen it in movies). Indeed, ice baths, also called cold-water immersion, is pretty popular in sports therapy. It is basically meant to help the body recover faster after intense physical activity.

The content of the method is pretty self-explanatory: it consists of the athlete sitting or standing in a bath of ice water. The common temperature of the water is somewhere between 50-59 degrees Fahrenheit (which is about 10-15 degrees Celsius), and the length and frequency of baths varies from one athlete to another. While some dip in freezing water for two minutes at a time, other might choose to spend 10 or 15 minutes in an ice bath.

The thing is, alongside being popular, this method has also gained itself a rather controversial reputation. The reason is, it can be pretty risky. Among the potential risks of soaking in ice water are slow muscle growth and hypothermia, which might lead to a shock resulting in as far as a sudden death.

All things considered, it seems that the risks involved in cold-water immersion might outweigh the benefits. Anyway, it’s important to stay educated and only adopt habits into our workout routines if we know for sure that they’re safe.

If you look at Sarah Magusarah’s TikTok, it’s hard to tell what this super-fit 20-year-old mom is aiming for: is she more about Q&As, cute videos with her baby girl, or dance and fitness content? We’re pretty sure she hasn’t decided yet; but nevertheless, it’s the last category that sparked our interest. Her workout challenges are a hit! They’re short, fun and make you want to give it a go. That’s probably why they’ve been getting so many views and comments.

While every workout routine needs a firm base of regular, longer workouts, trying out short fitness challenges every now and then is a great way to mix things up and have some fun. Sarah’s TikTok challenges are a great option.

Look at this 11-second challenge, for example. Here, Sarah challenges viewers to “hit all the beats” following what appears to be pretty basic moves. But when you give it a try, you realize it’s not as simple as it looks!

@sarahmagusara

New workout challenge, can you hit all the beats?? 🤭🔥🔥

♬ PHONKY TOWN – Playaphonk

Or this one! Are you up for all this super quick 15-seconds hopping challenge? According to commenters, their legs find it really hard to keep up.

@sarahmagusara New workout challenge, who’s going to hop on it? 🔥🔥 @joel.fletcher ♬ Changes – Joel Fletcher & Kennyon Brown

This workout challenge starts easy, but quickly turns into a faster-than-light sequence of switching between jumps and planks. Thankfully, it only lasts 10 seconds.

Obviously, most of us (except for some very special people) aren’t really in the mood to exercise when we only just woke up. But luckily, there’s a comforting middle between doing a major morning workout and not moving your body at all. And that middle often comes in the shape of a mellow morning yoga session. Honestly, what better get your juices flowing towards the day ahead?

One of the nicest things about the Yoga with Adriene YouTube channel is that it offers workouts of various lengths and with pretty much every possible theme you could think of. So here are three morning yoga sessions (they’re short, promise!) that will help you start your day right.

Let’s start with the shortest one for the lazy folks! This one is only 5-minute long and is done mainly on all fours, combined with a few downward dogs.

Next, we have another short 11-minute practice, so you can still definitely make time for it before you go to work. Stretch it out with some vitalizing morning yoga postures.

Finally, if you’re looking for a slightly longer one (but just slightly), here’s another lovely workout by Adriene. This one is 15-minute long, and offers a little more posture-diversity than the previous two. From basic morning stretches to all the classic yoga poses like forward folds, half-way lifts, planks, warrior variations, downward dog, and even star pose.
