With gyms closed and many people afraid to take public transportation due to the pandemic, people are turning to cycling for exercise and as a way to get around. Cycling is a great way to keep active while exploring new places and social distancing. If you’re new to cycling, here are some things to keep in mind.

Lock it Up

Whatever you do, don’t leave your bike outside without locking it up and try and get in insured. You don’t want the possibility of it getting stolen.

Helmets

It’s vital to wear a helmet while cycling and not all helmets will be the right size and fit. Make sure you get one that can be adjusted to fit you perfectly.

Routes

Don’t be afraid to ask a friend who cycles what routes they like and what parks to see. There are so many backstreets you can take which will also give you amazing views.

Bike

Choose a bike that’s light and simple. Bike shops will try and sell you the latest model and greatest kit, but bikes haven’t changed much in the past 100 years.

Practice

Find some quiet back roads away from the main roads and take it slow, before you head to congested streets.

Cycling indoors doesn’t sound like too much fun. But when you hear that Beyonce swears on a type of workout that includes exactly that, you might even change your mind. SoulCycle became extremely popular in the past year, so we’re more than excited to share its benefits with you.

What is SoulCycle?

This is an indoors workout that includes a stationary bike. You will be doing a number of workouts on the bike with a trainer and it will not be boring at all. The choreograph is fun, dynamic and great for everyone.

Benefits:

Lose Calories

Just like any other dynamic workout, SoulCycle will help you lose calories and drop down in weight. It’s very much like riding a bike, and it’s sometimes even more intense because you will be doing different workouts on the stationary bike.

Full-Body Engagement

This is not a workout that will only target your legs. Think of arm, core, butt and leg engagement. All muscles in your body will benefit from spinning.

Anti-Stress

This type of exercise is a proven way to get rid of stress and anxiety. Spinning increases the happy hormones and leaves you stress-free, calmer and toned at the same time.
