Dwayne Johnson likes to include his family in his workouts. 

The Black Adam star is about as buff as they come, with his biceps basically the size of an average person’s head. The actor demonstrated on Instagram how his youngest daughter helps to keep him in shape. 

In a video posted to the social media platform, The Rock can be seen lifting four-year-old Tiana with just one arm at a time. The giggling little girl is holding onto both her legs as she curls herself into a ball and counts the lifts as he goes. Her doting dad then kisses the toddler before setting her down. 

“Flew all night long just to walk thru the door in time for breakfast and ‘daddy curls’ at 7am,” Johnson captioned the clip.

The 50-year-old’s trainer Dave Rienzi previously shared a routine for how to get arms like the action star. It begins with rope pushdowns in which you squeeze at the bottom of the rep and includes dumbbell skull crushers that involve extending the arms further back in order to keep tension on the triceps, dual cable pushdowns, dumbbell kickbacks with two-second holds, barbell curls, dumbbell concentration curls, a tri-set of incline dumbbell curls, incline hammer curls, and EZ bar spider curls.

Dwayne Johnson is one of those stars who has always been in shape. Starting out as a wrestler for WWE, the now-actor claimed 10 world championships before becoming one of Hollywood’s top action heroes. 

Although The Rock is known for his ripped physique, he took it to a whole new level for his most recent film Black Adam, in which he played the DC Comics villain of the same name. The character is said to have the strength, stamina, and power of Egyptian gods, and so the actor decided to go all out when it came to his training. 

“Everyone is always asks, ‘He’s already so fit, what more can you do?’ He’s the only actor out there who, in real life, looks like a superhero,” says Johnson’s strength-and-conditioning coach, Dave Rienzi.

Yet, the pair developed a routine that focused on giving the actor even more muscle. As muscle takes time to grow, a full year was spent dedicated to building muscle mass, before a further six months was spent on creating muscle definition and leanness. 

A calorie surplus was key to building muscle, so the 50-year-old actor would consume seven meals a day. He had a daily calorie intake of 4,000-6,000, including 500 grams of protein and post-workout supplements like creatine. To ensure that he was lean, though, The Rock performed fasted cardio and always hit the StairMaster before breakfast.

“When you look at a superhero type physique in the comic books, it’s always big round shoulders, a wide back with a narrow waist and round chest,” Reinzi says. “We did a lot of heavy back training to create more width and that V-taper look we were going for.”

Training took place six days a week, but as you can see from how good Johnson looks in the movie, it was all worth it.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson started his rise to fame as a WWE star and built a successful career with roles in physically intense projects, but he’s taking things to a whole new level with Black Adam. He recently shared his workout plan for this movie and it’s as intense as it gets.

Johnson has a very active presence on social media, and he used some of his Instagram posts to share a detailed, step-to-step guide to his fitness routine for the upcoming DC movie.

“Been working very hard on my strength, conditioning, diet, balance, and energy to come into this role being in the best shape (hopefully) of my career and raise the bar,” wrote the actor on Instagram.

He also shared several descriptions of his regular routine, which consists of two workouts a day. Johnson usually kicks things off as soon as he gets up, with a morning cardio workout that he does on an empty stomach. One of his regular workouts targets his chest and triceps, but his weight room routine doesn’t always look the same and he has a habit of focusing on different muscle groups every day.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has always been extremely committed to his workout routine, and he uses music as an important source of motivation. The famous action star decided to join forces with Spotify to share a playlist filled with his favorite workout jams.

Johnson revealed he has “thousands of favorite workout tracks”, but that he agreed to make a playlist that includes 30 ultimate workout jams. He hand-picked 27 songs, and asked his fans to help him choose the final three songs by sending their suggestions.

Judging by his playlist so far, the Fast & Furious star has a soft spot for legendary rock and metal bands, such as Guns N Roses and Metalica. He also enjoys working out to smash hits by famous hip-hop artists, such as Eminem, Tupac, and Drake.

We can’t wait for Johnson’s playlist to hit Spotify, but this actually isn’t the first time he shared his workout songs on a major streaming service. Back in 2017, he curated a playlist of workout tracks for Apple Music, and it included songs from Bruno Mars and Disturbed.
