]]>Ever since the first Thor movie came out over a decade ago, we read countless articles about Chris Hemsworth’s workout routine, but it’s finally Portman’s time to shine. The Oscar-winning actress is taking up Thor’s hammer in the new movie, and she went to great lengths to prepare for this role.
She previously told Vanity Fair that she started working out for the role four months prior to shooting and that the training process was “really fun”. It involved lifting heavy weights and using fitness supplements, as a way of upping her protein intake because she happens to be vegan.
“We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes — heavyweight training that I haven’t ever done before. Of course, I’ve never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work,” explained Portman.
We’ll get to see her transform into Might Thor on July 8, when Thor: Love & Thunder finally hits the theatres.

]]>Portman told tennis superstar Serena Williams that, “She’s actually The Mighty Thor,” in a recent Instagram Live about their female-led WFC LA/Angel City soccer team. “The comics had the female Thor when Jane becomes Thor, and she’s The Mighty Thor.”
The actress also told Williams that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Marvel film hasn’t started production yet, which means that she has more time to get fit. “More time to get jacked. Which I have not. I’ve got the carbo-loading down, but not the exercise part.”
Even though production has been delayed, Portman is “very excited” for the film, which she said is set to begin filming in Australia in 2021. She also said that, “it will be exciting and I’m interested to see if I can gain muscle.”
Just last week, Portman and Williams were among a group of women who were awarded the right to the National Women’s Soccer League’s Los Angeles-based team. Uzo Aduba, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria , and Lilly Singh were also among the actresses who were awarded the team.
Currently, the all-female team is being referred to as WFC LA/Angel City, but an official name hasn’t been set and it’s supposed to be revealed later this year.
