Marvel surprised us with a new trailer for Thor: Love & Thunder this week and Natalie Portman was one of it its shiniest stars. She looks better than ever while wielding Mjolnir as Mighty Thor, but we couldn’t help but wonder how she got in such an amazing shape.
Ever since the first Thor movie came out over a decade ago, we read countless articles about Chris Hemsworth’s workout routine, but it’s finally Portman’s time to shine. The Oscar-winning actress is taking up Thor’s hammer in the new movie, and she went to great lengths to prepare for this role.
She previously told Vanity Fair that she started working out for the role four months prior to shooting and that the training process was “really fun”. It involved lifting heavy weights and using fitness supplements, as a way of upping her protein intake because she happens to be vegan.
“We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes — heavyweight training that I haven’t ever done before. Of course, I’ve never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work,” explained Portman.
We’ll get to see her transform into Might Thor on July 8, when Thor: Love & Thunder finally hits the theatres.
