In case you haven’t head, Natalie Portman is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play the first female Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. The 39-year-old Oscar-winning actress refers to her version of Thor not as “Lady Thor” but as “The Mighty Thor.”

Portman told tennis superstar Serena Williams that, “She’s actually The Mighty Thor,” in a recent Instagram Live about their female-led WFC LA/Angel City soccer team. “The comics had the female Thor when Jane becomes Thor, and she’s The Mighty Thor.”

The actress also told Williams that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Marvel film hasn’t started production yet, which means that she has more time to get fit. “More time to get jacked. Which I have not. I’ve got the carbo-loading down, but not the exercise part.”

Even though production has been delayed, Portman is “very excited” for the film, which she said is set to begin filming in Australia in 2021. She also said that, “it will be exciting and I’m interested to see if I can gain muscle.”

Just last week, Portman and Williams were among a group of women who were awarded the right to the National Women’s Soccer League’s Los Angeles-based team. Uzo Aduba, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria , and Lilly Singh were also among the actresses who were awarded the team.

Currently, the all-female team is being referred to as WFC LA/Angel City, but an official name hasn’t been set and it’s supposed to be revealed later this year.
