Almost everyone suffers some symptoms of stress each day. Stress is a leading cause of heart problems, poor mental health, and it’s harmful to all-round physical wellbeing. There are a number of ways that you can combat your stress levels. But one of the simplest, easiest, and least time-consuming methods for reducing stress is stretching. Let’s take a look at the changes you can expect from implementing daily stretching exercises.

Relaxes the Muscles

A lot of us carry our stress around in our muscles. A combination of sedentary lifestyles and stressful living environments makes our muscles stiff and tense. This physical state of our body increases the levels of stress that we feel. We carry most of our stress in our shoulders, neck, and lower back. If you stretch these areas daily, your mind will start relaxing as your body relaxes.

Improves Blood Circulation

Stress increases the risk of heart failure due to poor blood circulation and constricted blood vessels. Stretching not only improves circulation, but it also enhances the quality of the blood. Regular stretching and movement get the blood moving properly, and improved breathing makes the blood richer in oxygen.

At the end of the day, it’s great to take a break from social media and focus on yourself. Whether your nighttime rituals include reading a book, doing a face mask, or walking your dog, it’s important to do some stretches to loosen your limbs. We’ve compiled a few exercises you can perform from the comfort of your own bed.

Side Stretches for Relaxation

  • First, do a few shoulder rolls and neck tilts to loosen your spine and shoulders.
  • Next twist your body to the right for 15 seconds, then do the left side.
  • Lastly, do some cat-cow poses by going on all fours on your bed then slowly curling your spine upwards and downwards.
  • Repeat these steps twice.

I did this yoga/stretching flow this morning because I was having a discussion about how you don’t need to loose weight to get into 🧘🏽‍♀️ yoga! I also wanted to say YOU DON’T need anything! Which is why I shared this straight out of bed. Hair is untouched and wearing large warm pajamas (fiancés shirt) before I actually get started for my day. . @aloyoga posted (the picture/quote I posted with this swipe ➡) the quote in their story a week or so ago and it’s true! When we start something new we fail. That’s okay, we just try again until we get it 🙂 babysteps ✌🏼 In fact I don’t even have a yoga mat! I practice every day on the carpet, grass, sand or towels or some workout gym mats on bought on Craigslist for 10$! A friend of mine just gave me her old mat the other day that she found lol so I’m getting their 😝 . I am posting this video to share one easy way to get up and start yoga or stretching for a workout. It can be as easy as getting up in the bed putting on music and stretching! Elongate Your Legs

After a long day, give your legs and feet a break with this easy stretch.

  • Bring your left straight towards you (put a bend to it if you’re not too flexible).
  • Stretch it out for 15 seconds before doing the right leg.
  • Next, try to reach for your toes for 15 seconds.
  • Afterward, strike a butterfly pose by touching the soles of your feet together almost like sitting cross-legged, but bring your soles together.
  • Repeat this process twice.

Reach For The Sky

Sometimes we neglect the fact that our sides need to be stretched too.

  • Sit at the edge of your bed and spread your legs slightly apart.
  • Lean to the right and stretch your left arm to the right side.
  • Next, lean to the left and stretch your right arm to the left side.
  • Repeat twice.

Voila! You’ll have a good night’s rest indeed after these simple exercises.
