The post New Study Finds Resistance Training Has an Effect On Weight Loss appeared first on yourdailysportfix.com.
]]>The study’s preliminary findings suggest that when we lift weights, our muscles release a specific type of genetic material into the bloodstream. That genetic material then seems to be transferred to our fat cells to speed up the fat-burning process. In short, the mere act of lifting weights may spur a biological process that starts to metabolize fat cells.
What prompted the scientist to conduct their research was the quick fat-burning processes observed in weightlifters. While it makes scientific sense that the larger your muscles, the more fat you burn, it wasn’t enough to explain those immediate fat-burning benefits. In a statement to The New York Times, John J.NcCarthy, Ph.D., one of the study’s authors, said that the discovery is yet another reminder that “muscle mass is vitally important for metabolic health.”

]]>A study conducted by NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing shows that people who try two or more different workout routines throughout the month are more likely to reach their fitness goals, and concluded that active adults are more likely to engage in several different types of psychical activity.
When it comes to the most popular workouts among the study participants, walking, cycling, dancing, working out on a treadmill, and weightlifting led the way. The most active adults participated in up to five different activities per month.
This isn’t the first study that concluded that adding variety to your workouts can yield better results. Back in 2000, a study conducted by the University of Florida came to a conclusion that people with a varied exercise program were 63% more likely to stick to their routine because having variety in your workout routine increases enjoyment and motivation.

]]>While it would be the best to be more active throughout the day, if you can’t do that, there’s a way to make up for all the sitting. A research has recently been published in the British Journal of Medicine that informs us about the ideal amount of daily exercise for people who sit 10 hours per day.
According to the study, 30-40 minutes of mild to high-intensity exercise per day is enough to stop connecting a sedentary lifestyle with a higher risk of death.
The research was done on over 44,000 people and was conducted throughout a span of many years. The participants were monitored from 4 to 14 and a half years to see how much the parameters changed in active and less active individuals.
The results proved once again that daily activity is crucial for staying healthy and living longer, especially for people who spend a lot of time sitting.

]]>The cross-sectional study found that, regardless of other factors like age, height, weight, education, and many more, participants who consumed dark chocolate in two 24-hour periods had 70% lower odds of reporting depressive symptoms that those who didn’t eat any chocolate. Even those who ate any type of chocolate, not necessarily dark, had fewer depressive symptoms.
So, next time you want to grab some chocolate, know that you’re doing your mental health a favor and eat it without feeling guilty! There are ways to work it off and you’ll probably be more active if you’re not feeling depressive anyway.

Fasting has always been a part of human culture. There are many different reasons why one decides to fast for a certain period of time and they range from religious to health-related. The most popular way of intermittent fasting is 16:8, which means you would fast for 16 hours and eat all your daily food within an 8-hour window. For some people, this means skipping breakfast, for other skipping dinner, but it ultimately doesn’t matter. The main goal is to limit the number of calories you consume daily and limiting the eating hours is a great way to achieve that.

]]>“Pasta can be an effective building block for good nutrition throughout the lifecycle, as it serves as a perfect delivery system for fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, and legumes,” she said. Think of it as a blank canvas that’s perfect for adding all the foods rich in fiber and nutrients you want. “This analysis underscores the nutritional importance of grains, such as pasta, as consistent with a healthy diet. It shows that pasta eaters have better quality diets than those who don’t eat pasta.”
She’s talking about the new research published in Frontiers in Nutrition in August 2020. The research found that pasta consumption in children and adults is connected to a better diet quality compared to children and adults who don’t eat pasta. Isn’t that good news?

]]>The idea is that nuts help you feel full longer and crave junk food less, which leads to weight loss or prevents weight gain in the long-term. The researchers examined the diet data of over 280,000 adults who participated in three long-term studies. The results were derived from over 20 years of monitoring the participants and asking them about their weight changes and nut-eating habits.
What they found is that eating nuts regularly correlates with not gaining weight over time and a lower risk of obesity. The difference between those who ate nuts regularly and those who only ate them occasionally was that the former typically gained half a pound less per year than the latter, which can definitely add up over the years.
Nuts contain plenty of healthy fats and are an important part of a healthy, balanced diet. As long as you don’t eat too much of them, you can reap many health benefits.

]]>The study lasted for six weeks and included 30 overweight and obese men divided into three groups. One group exercised before breakfast, the other first ate and then exercised, while the third, control group made no lifestyle changes.
After six weeks, the results showed that participants who ate breakfast after physical activity “burned double the amount of fat,” according to Dr. Javier Gonzalz of UK’s Department of Health.
“The group who exercised before breakfast increased their ability to respond to insulin, which is all the more remarkable given that both exercise groups lost a similar amount of weight and both gained a similar amount of fitness. The only difference was the timing of the food intake,” Dr. Gonzalez said.

These results are not definite and applicable to every single person on Earth. If the only activity you like/can practice is cycling or swimming, that’s still much better than doing nothing. But if you’d like to change your exercise routine, the activities this research found helpful can serve you as a starting point on your new journey.
