The unfortunate thing about aging is that things no longer perform like they used to. One of these is our metabolism. After the age of 30, one’s metabolism slows down, meaning you may feel more sluggish than you did a decade before. 

A slow metabolism also means that we may crave foods that are high in carbs and sugar and be susceptible to mood swings. The good news is, your metabolism can be reset by making a few small changes. 

Get Enough Shut Eye

Sleep is crucial to an optimal metabolism. When we are sleep deprived, our bodies become stressed, pushing up our levels of cortisol. Aim to get at least eight hours of (good quality) sleep per night.

Been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? There’s a reason for that. Eating breakfast fast-tracks your metabolism and keeps your energy high all day. So don’t skip it. 

Become a Pro at Probiotics

You can’t have a healthy metabolism without a healthy gut. Probiotics are an excellent way to bring balance to the gut and can be found through supplements or Greek yogurt. If you’re opting for the latter, make sure it states “contains active cultures”.
