How to Do Outdoor Workouts While Practicing Social Distancing

With gyms closed, we’ve had to update our workouts. While home workouts are great, it’s always nice to get some fresh air and to leave the house. If you want to bring your workout outside, it’s important to practice social distancing to protect yourself from the coronavirus and to be smart when choosing where to exercise. We don’t advise working out on the playground or in crowded areas. Before you go for your workout, be smart, and err on the side of caution. Here are some tips when working out outside during the pandemic.

Keep Your Distance

While working out outside, make sure you keep at least six feet of physical distance. If you notice that other people around you aren’t adhering to social distancing, find a new spot to exercise. Try and find times that are less busy and places that are less crowded for working out.

Create Your Own Space and Keep it Clean

Make you own workout space with TRX trainers, resistance bands, and yoga mats. Be sure to always carry disinfectant wipes in your gym bag to clean surfaces before you use them.

Keep Workout Groups Small

If you like working out with other people, you can still do group fitness classes while maintaining social distancing. Make sure you stick to the rules for gathering for your state regarding the amount of people who can be in one space. Some gyms are hosting outdoor classes and they’re strict about adhering to health and safety practices.

Wear a Mask

While wearing a mask can be uncomfortable and restricting, face masks reduce the transmission of coronavirus, and the CDC recommends wearing a mask anytime you leave your home.
