It’s quite amazing how unaware people can be in certain social settings. That may sound harsh to say, but it’s an important facet of life—including when it comes to gym culture. It’s crucial to be respectful of others at the gym, but some people aren’t so good at knowing how to do that. Here’s something that many people do that you should avoid if you can.

Invading Personal Space

One of the most common ways that people get bothered at the gym is when random people start talking to them out of nowhere. The reason this happens so often is because everybody is different. Some people are very talkative while others are more to themselves. Therefore, one talkative person might think they’re doing nothing wrong by chatting up a person who really just wants to work out and keep to themselves.

Being Self-Aware

The solution to this is being self-aware of your natural instincts. So if you think you’re someone who’s extroverted and very talkative, try to rein yourself in as much as you can to make sure you’re not bothering people. If you’re talking to someone while they’re in the middle of a workout, look for signs that they might be getting uncomfortable.
