How to Get Motivated to Hit the Gym Again After a Long Break

It’s probably been months since the last time you worked out at a gym. Some people missed them so much that they returned as soon as they reopened, while others still aren’t sure how to go back. If you’re part of the second group, here’s how to get motivated to head to the gym again.

Know What to Expect

Your local gym no longer looks like it used to with countless safety measures in place. Familiarize yourself with new rules, so you wouldn’t feel anxious as soon as you open the door. Keep in mind you’ll probably have to cut your workout short because many gyms have strict time limits.

Baby Steps

You probably won’t be able to ease into your old routine right away, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Going back to the gym can be hard on your body and mind, so make sure to take things easy by working out less frequently and with lower intensity at first.

Embrace the Change

It may take some time before you start enjoying your gym sessions as much as you used to, but it’s possible this will never happen. If your time in quarantine helped you discover home and outdoor workouts you enjoy much more, feel free to fully commit to them.
