]]>The Only Murders in the Building star is the most-followed person on Instagram and often uses the platform to shut down body-shamers. Sadly, she herself has been victim to many of them while being under the scrutiny of the public eye.
“My weight would constantly fluctuate because I would be on certain medications. And obviously, people just ran with it,” Gomez said during an episode of Dear… on Apple TV+. “It was like they couldn’t wait to find a thing to bring me down. I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my lupus.”
The 30-year-old has struggled with the autoimmune disease since being diagnosed in her early twenties. The condition caused her to need a kidney transplant and has also had a major effect on her mental health.
During the interview, the “My Mind & Me” singer revealed that although she would put on a brave face on social media, hurtful comments about her appearance would greatly upset her.
“I would go online and I would post a picture of myself and I would say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying.’ All the while, being in the room posting and crying my eyes out because nobody deserves to hear those things.”
She added, “I was posting these things saying it doesn’t bother me because I didn’t want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing — getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love. I just think it’s so unfair; I don’t think that anybody deserves to feel less than.”

]]>Back in 2020, the “Let Somebody Go” singer revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after visiting one of the best mental hospitals in the United States. “I was equal parts terrified and relieved—terrified because the veil was lifted but relieved that I finally had the knowledge of why I had suffered with various depressions and anxieties for so many years,” she stated.
Bipolar disorder, which was previously known as manic depression, is a condition which cause extreme fluctuation in a person’s mood, energy, and ability to function. Depending on whether a person is going through a high or low period, symptoms can include feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness; fatigue; increased sleep; and crying; or abnormal cheerfulness; excessive amounts of energy; and little need to sleep.
Ahead of the release of her documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, on November 4, the 31-year-old said, “I hope that by sharing my experiences and difficulties, it will help people feel inspired to share their own stories. And to have hope that things can and will get better.”

]]>Selena’s fitness guru discussed the pop star’s workout routine in-depth and it turns out she usually books between three and five gym sessions a week, and planks are an important part of each one.
“We also do a lot of plank work, and I’m into varied planks. So, not just holding a basic plank, but doing a plank while taking turns tapping opposite arm to opposite shoulder, or lifting and lowering one leg in a pulse, or going from your elbow to your hands tilting your hips,” said Davis.
The celebrity trainer also shared a couple of tips about doing planks correctly, as a way of helping gym enthusiasts who still haven’t fully mastered this move.
“Basically, you want to first make sure you have a correct plank so that your shoulders are stacked over your wrists, your hips are low, you’re pushed into your heels, and you’re not arched, but you’re not grounded. So, your core is activated, your belly button is pulled up to your backbone, and you have that good base,” Davis told Hollywood Life.
