There are many different kinds of exercises you can do to get in better shape, and nowadays it seems like a hundred more get invented every year. But there are some classic exercises that never go out of style. Or, even if they are less “trendy”, they remain as effective as they ever were. Jumping rope is the kind of exercise that you did as a child in gym class but stopped doing when you got older because it just seemed silly. But here’s why it’s one of the most underrated exercises out there.

Full Body Workout

The cool thing about jumping rope is that it pretty much gives your entire body a workout. The main burn you’ll be feeling is in your calf muscles, but there are other muscle groups being activated as well, such as your glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, biceps, triceps, and abs.

Improve Athletic Performance

In addition to muscle building, jumping rope is an insanely effective cardio exercise. It’s incredibly effective at improving speed and jumping ability, but perhaps even more importantly, people who jump rope find that their endurance levels skyrocket.

Improve Balance and Coordination

There are so many benefits to jumping rope, and we’ve really only scratched the surface. But one more thing we feel compelled to add is the way that jumping rope helps with balance and coordination. This is a huge benefit for athletes of all sports, and a good way to put them ahead of the competition.
