Deciding to finally join your local gym is the first step towards a healthier lifestyle, but don’t feel bad if you’re feeling a bit lost in the beginning. Follow these steps to figure out what you should do if you’re feeling out of place.

Ask For Help

Getting familiar with new fitness routines and pieces of equipment takes time, and you’re not the only ones who might be struggling. Gym employees are there to help you with the basic, so feel free to ask them for instructions.

Start Small

Every gym has a couple of machines everyone is familiar with, including treadmills and stationary bikes. If you’re new to the whole thing, turn to pieces of equipment that don’t seem intimidating because you already know how to use them.

Make a Plan

Don’t go to your first gym session completely unprepared. Figure out what your fitness goals are and how to accomplish them, and focus on exercises that will get you there.
