Summer without at least one kayaking adventure is no summer at all, but preparing for it can be challenging. Despite the fact it looks quite effortless, there are a few things you should consider before taking the paddle.
Dress for the occasion
You should go with synthetic clothing during your kayaking adventures. This material does a better job absorbing sweat and water than cotton we usually wear. Your footwear will probably get wet, too. Try looking for good water shoes, or use an old pair of sneakers you don’t need anymore. Lifevest is also a good idea, especially if you’re not such a great swimmer.

Sunscreen is a must
Sun is impossible to avoid during kayaking trips in the summer and you should do everything to protect yourself. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to all exposed areas of the skin and bring a hat to prevent your face from burning.

Stay hydrated
Just because you’ll be surrounded by water at all times, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring your own bottle. Drinkable water is a must and small pack of high energy foods could also come in handy.
Waterproof protection
No matter how skilled you are, falling into the water or getting your things wet is always a possibility. Put dry clothes inside a waterproof container and do the same with your phone and other widgets you’re taking with you.
