4 Ways to Clean Reusable Water Bottles

It’s important to stay hydrated throughout the day and the best way to do that is to carry a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. Because your water bottle goes with you to work, the gym, the grocery store, and whichever other stops you make throughout the day, it picks up lots of bacteria and germs. We can’t stress enough how important it is to clean your water bottle after every use, especially now that we’re in the midst of a pandemic. Here are four ways to clean your reusable water bottle.

Dishwasher

The easiest way to clean your water bottle is to throw it in the dishwasher. Just make sure it’s dishwasher safe as sometimes the lids aren’t.

Liquid Soap

Each day you should fill your bottle with warm soapy water and put the cap on before giving the bottle a good shake. Then, dump the water out and use a bottle scrub brush to get deep into the bottle. Rinse your bottle with warm water to remove any remaining suds and don’t forget to wash the lid and mouthpiece.

Distilled White Vinegar

Fill your water bottle halfway with equal parts vinegar and water and then put the lid on and give your bottle a good shake. Let the bottle sit with the solution overnight and then rinse the bottle with warm water to get rid of the vinegar the next day.

Baking Soda and Bleach

For a thorough clean, using bleach is the best way to get rid of all the germs. Mix a teaspoon of bleach with a teaspoon of baking soda and then fill your bottle with water and the solution you made. Let the solution soak your bottle overnight and the next morning, rinse it with warm water.
