Adele went on an amazing fitness journey in the past two years, and she opened up about her transformation in a recent cover story for Vogue. The Grammy-winning singer revealed that she discovered the joys of working out after realizing it helped her manage her anxiety.

Adele told Vogue that she was looking for a way to get physically and mentally stronger while dealing with anxiety, and working out, especially strength training, helped her get the job done.

“I realized that when I was working out, I didn’t have any anxiety. It was never about losing weight. I thought, If I can make my body physically strong, and I can feel that and see that, then maybe one day I can make my emotions and my mind physically strong,” she explained.

Adele also discussed her fitness journey with British Vogue and said that strict diets and intermediate fasting weren’t a part of her routine and that she actually eats more than before to fuel her workouts. The singer also took a moment to look at the way her fitness journey was discussed in the media and admitted her feelings were hurt by some of the reactions.

“My body’s been objectified my entire career. It’s not just now. I understand why it’s a shock. I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually I represented a lot of women. But I’m still the same person,” Adele told Vogue.
