During this time of year, it’s not uncommon to get the winter blues. And the trick to combating it is as simple as heading outside. Just 20 minutes of sunlight a day can boost your mood. So when’s the best time to head outside?

Exposure to natural light first thing in the morning is one of the best ways to improve your mood. But, midday or afternoon exposure is still good if that works better for you. You can actually make the benefits of sunlight even more effective by adding exercise. So, head outside and go for a brief walk to get some sunlight and a workout at the same time.

One of the best ways to make sure you head out first thing in the morning is to prep before you head to bed. Check the weather and lay out your clothes, so you’ll have a visual reminder as soon as you wake up. The hardest part is getting out of bed and once you manage to do that, it’s much easier to head outside. As soon as you head outside and are in nature, we promise you won’t regret it!
