In this day and age, we’ve become aware of our necessity to drink plenty of water. In the 20th century, sugar companies had many people convinced that various sugar drinks were a fine alternative to water, but we’ve wised up since then. It’s been proven how detrimental too much sugar can be to our health, and that water is the best possible thing you can put in your body. So how much water should we all be drinking per day?

It’s natural to assume to that the amount of water we consume should actually depend on a few different factors. However, according to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the main criteria to measure is whether or not you’re a man or woman.

According to them, an appropriate consumption of water per day for a man should be about 15 and a half cups, which is akin to 3.7 liters. For women, 11 and a half cups, which is about 2.7 liters.

If you don’t even come close to drinking this amount of water per day, it’s important to note that you can get water from many different sources. In addition to drinking it straight up out of the bottle, you can get water from fruit and vegetables. However, we wouldn’t place our bets on that covering your intake—instead we’d recommend drinking the required amount the standard way.
