We all have our own reasons for working out. Maybe we want to achieve a healthier body weight, maybe we want to reduce our risk of diseases, maybe we want to improve our mental health. Whatever the case may be, we all know that exercise has plenty of benefits. But in addition to the more obvious ones, there are also some lesser talked-about benefits that make working out even more worth it. For example…

Perseverance

If you’ve ever done a plank, you know how tempting it can be to give up when the going gets tough. But exercise teaches you to push through even when something is uncomfortable, increasing your tolerance for challenges and discomfort.

Better Sleep

When you exercise, your body is desperate to recover afterward, and it helps you sleep like a baby, which in turn gives you more energy and makes you feel better the following day.

Confidence

Whether it’s because you’ve hit a new PR, gone down (or up!) a pants size, figured out a new yoga pose you could never do before, or something else, exercise can make you feel better about yourself and give you a sense of pride in yourself that really puts a spring in your step.
