It’s that time of the year when the lists of trend forecasts for 2023 are showing up everywhere and Pinterest recently unveiled theirs. “Primal movement” was listed as the biggest fitness trend coming our way next year, but what is this craze all about?

According to Pinterest, this fitness trend is all about prioritizing good posture. They claim the primal movement trend is driven by Gen X and Millennials, as they try to “trade their screens for stretches and their desks for hip dips” and get back to basics in 2023.

“With remote working here to stay, people are looking for simpler ways to combat ‘tech neck’. As people make their homes their permanent offices, we’ll see an upswing in inclusive, adaptive, and everyday forms of movement,” reads Pinterest’s press release.

Primal movement exercises are all the rage on YouTube right now and they’re not as complicated as it sounds. The list of primal pattern movements includes the exercises we’re all familiar with from squatting and bending to lunging and pushing.

Pinterest also predicts the rise of stretching and mobility exercises, with mobility stretches, neck hump exercises, knee mobility exercises, and hip mobility exercises experiencing a huge increase in searches in recent months.
