Should You Go Jogging In The Rain?

Jogging is one of those exercises that has a bit of a cultish vibe to it. Similar to working out in general, jogging is somewhat of a lifestyle, but one that combines a love for nature and the great outdoors. Sure, there’s also jogging on a treadmill, but we’re here to talk strictly about jogging outdoors and the various natural conditions runners are exposed to. Take rain, for instance. Jogging outdoors while it’s raining can be challenging, but is it worth it?

Depends On The Intensity

The first thing to note is that it really does depend on the intensity of the rain that’s falling. If it’s pouring like crazy outside, do yourself a favor and don’t be a martyr. Sit this one out. You’re not doing yourself any favors by getting yourself drenched in a crazy downpour—and if it’s cold outside as well, you’re likely to get yourself sick.

A Blissful Experience

On the other hand, if the rain outside is quite light and harmless, jogging in it can be a very pleasant experience. In the same way that experiencing nature is great for all joggers, this is even more so the case when there’s a light drizzle. As you begin to work up a sweat, there’s nothing better than feeling that cool mist fall down upon your forehead to relax you.
