There are a few fitness rules everyone should know before stepping into the gym. Otherwise, these workouts won’t be effective and you’re just wasting your time. Here are a few signs that you’re probably wasting your workouts.

Warming Up Too Long

Warming up before a workout is super important in order to prevent injuries, but it also shouldn’t be too long. Long warm-ups will only drain energy and decrease your performance, so five to ten minutes is more than enough to stretch your muscles.

Poor Nutrition

The best way to achieve any fitness goal is to combine a good workout plan with healthy nutrition. Even if you spend every day at the gym, chances are you won’t be satisfied with the results if you’ve been neglecting nutrition.

Taking Too Many Breaks

It’s okay to take a few breaks during the workout, especially for a beginner—but try not to take them too often. Also, rest breaks shouldn’t be too long if you want the workout to be effective. 30 to 90 seconds between sets should be enough.
