Stuck in a Rut? Here’s How to Increase Your Motivation to Workout at Home

Staying fit during this pandemic has been a struggle for everyone, even the most hardcore gym-rats. It’s hard to feel motivated to workout when your routine is completely thrown off and you can’t exercise at the gym. But, it’s more important than ever before to stay active as it can help relieve your stress. If you’re having difficulty finding the motivation to workout, these tips can help you out.

Dedicate Space in Your Home

Setting up a space to exercise in your home and having your workout clothes set aside the night before will increase your chances of working out. All you need is a towel or mat and some floor space to get a good workout in.

Set Aside Time

You don’t need that much time to get a great cardio session in—20 minutes is all you need. For weight training, it shouldn’t take more than an hour. If possible, try and workout in the morning because you’ll have the most energy at that time.

Invite Friends or Family to Exercise With You

Use you family or friends to help give you that extra motivation you need to commit to working out. Sticking to a workout routine is much easier when you have someone else joining you.

Focus on How the Workout Will Make You Feel

You’ll be more likely to workout when you do exercises you enjoy. So, if you like HIIT workouts or Zumba, make sure you do those a couple of time a week.

Reach Out to Professionals

If you don’t know where to start, ask a trainer or your gym to help you make a plan. Or you could try online fitness classes which have many free options on YouTube, Zoom, Instagram, or Facebook.
