Ginger is not just a tasty root that can be used to spice up desserts and flavor drinks—it’s also packed full of surprising health benefits that can support your whole body. Let’s take a look at five of the health benefits that can help you in your day-to-day lives.

Supports the Immune System

Ginger contains gingerol, a powerful antioxidant that can reinforce your immune system. Sprinkle some ginger on your salad or sip some ginger tea to get a quick health boost.

Anti-Inflammatory

Containing antioxidant phytonutrients like that also found in nuts, seeds, beans and whole-grains, ginger can act as an anti-inflammatory by reducing cell-signalling activity.

Relieves Period Pain

Ginger is a natural way to relieve period pain and reduce nausea. However, it may not work so well if it is combined with ibuprofen, so check what medications you are taking first.
