Swimming really is one of the best forms of exercise. It is healthy for the joints, uses all the muscles in the body, and is soothing for the mind as well as the body. But what are the best ways to workout when swimming in a pool? Here are some of the most effective swimming exercises for you to try. It’s best to do a combination of these at a time for best results.

Treading Water

Treading water works out the whole body and is a great way to warm up. Simply move your arms back and forth in the water and kick your feet back and forth below you. This will keep you afloat for as long as you want.

After you’ve warmed up, start swimming lengths of the pool with breaststroke. Swim like a frog with your arms pulling you along with a wide motion as your legs kick out behind you. This is a great way to strengthen your core, your chest, and legs.

Water Running

This is like regular running but you do it in the water instead. The extra water resistance makes it harder to move. This makes it ideal for working out those muscles without the high impact of regular running taking its toll on your knees and ankles.

Kick Practise

Take a float board and paddle around the pool using your feet as an engine. This will work out your legs and abs.
