While it’s already widely known that exercise can boost your mood, fast and intense HIIT workouts have a particularly positive effect on your mental wellbeing. Here’s why.

It’s All In The Research

According to research at the University of South Australia, quick, intense workouts in short bursts are shown to reduce symptoms of stress. This actually suggests that intense workouts are actually more effective at doing so than more leisurely exercises such as jogging and yoga.

Turn Up The Music

While analyzing the exercise of a group of men, the study determined that an intense workout wasn’t the only way to improve one’s mood. Working out to mid-to fast-paced music can also greatly improve performance and uplift your mental well-being, while helping you ignore your exhaustion.

Don’t Forget The Coffee

According to research, caffeine is able to improve your readiness to work out and ultimately get you in the mindset to hit the gym. Grab a cup of coffee or a shake or supplement to get in the right space of mind.

Are you tired of spending hours at the gym, dreading your monotonous workout routine? Well, there’s a solution that will not only save you time but also give you incredible results. Enter High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), the workout trend that has taken the fitness world by storm. Here’s why it’s become so popular.

Efficiency

HIIT is all about getting maximum results in minimum time. It’s a workout technique that combines short bursts of intense exercise with brief periods of rest or active recovery. In just 20 to 30 minutes, you can torch calories, boost your metabolism, and improve your overall fitness.

Versatility

One of the most appealing aspects of HIIT is its versatility. You can customize your workout to fit your preferences and fitness level. Whether you prefer running, cycling, jumping rope, or bodyweight exercises, HIIT can be tailored to suit your needs.

Cardio

Apart from being time-efficient, HIIT can help you burn fat, build lean muscle, and improve cardiovascular health. HIIT workouts also have a lasting effect on your metabolism, keeping it elevated long after you’ve finished exercising. As an added cherry on top, the intense nature of HIIT triggers the release of endorphins, those feel-good hormones that leave you energized and uplifted.

Get ready to experience the exhilaration, the burn, and the incredible benefits of high-intensity interval training, better known as HIIT. HIIT is a training method that involves short bursts of intense exercise followed by brief periods of rest or lower-intensity recovery. This alternating pattern keeps your heart rate up, pushes your body to its limits, and torches calories like nobody’s business. It’s a turbocharged, heart-pumping, and sweat-dripping exercise method that pushes you to your limits and beyond.

Efficiency

With HIIT, you can get an incredible workout in a fraction of the time compared to traditional exercise methods. No more spending hours on the treadmill or slogging through long, monotonous workouts. HIIT combines short bursts of intense exercise with brief recovery periods, keeping your heart rate elevated and maximizing your calorie burn. In just 20 to 30 minutes, you can achieve the same results as an hour-long workout. Talk about a time-saver!

Fat Loss

HIIT is like a secret weapon for fat loss. Not only does it burn calories during the workout, but it also creates an “afterburn” effect called excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). This means that your body continues to burn calories at an increased rate even after you’ve finished exercising. It’s like getting a bonus fat-burning boost long after you’ve left the gym.

Strength Building

HIIT is also a great way to build strength and improve cardiovascular fitness. The intense bursts of exercise engage multiple muscle groups and push your body to adapt and become stronger. Plus, the high-intensity intervals improve your cardiovascular endurance, helping your heart become more efficient and resilient.

Mental Benefits

But let’s not forget about the mental benefits of HIIT. The sheer intensity of the workout releases endorphins, those feel-good hormones that leave you feeling energized, motivated, and ready to conquer the world. It’s like a natural mood booster that helps alleviate stress, improve mental clarity, and boost your overall well-being.

Versatility

One of the best things about HIIT is its versatility. You can do it anywhere, anytime, with minimal equipment. Whether you prefer working out at the gym, in the comfort of your own home, or even in a park, HIIT can easily be adapted to your surroundings. All you need is a timer, some space to move, and a whole lot of determination.

Fun and Excitment

But perhaps the most exciting part of HIIT is the element of fun and excitement it brings to your workouts. No more mindlessly going through the motions or dreading your exercise routine. HIIT keeps you engaged, challenged, and motivated as you push yourself to new limits. It’s like a thrilling adventure every time you lace up your sneakers and hit the workout floor.

HIIT workouts come with a long list of benefits, but it’s important to switch things up if you want to avoid burnout. If you’re not sure how to do it, fitness duo Juice & Toya is here to help you every step of the way with their amazing HIIT workouts that combine several routines into one.

Cardio X HIIT

If you enjoy cardio and HIIT in equal measure, why not try a routine that’s the best of both worlds? That’s exactly the idea behind this 30-minute workout that will do a great job getting your heart rate up and the best part about it is that it doesn’t constantly repeat the same exercises.

Dumbbell X HIIT

Not everyone enjoys mixing up cardio and HIIT, and if you prefer weight training—this is just the workout that you need. A set of dumbbells is the only piece of equipment that you’ll need, but they’ll make your workout super-intense so Juice & Toya made sure to include low-impact variations.

Tempo x HIIT

Juice & Toya also prepared this 15-minute routine for people who want to keep their workouts sweet and short. This routine will give you a great calorie burn by umping the tempo of each exercise and switching between slow and fast pace.

The first thing that usually comes to mind when someone mentions exercise, is those boring gym sessions that last for an hour and seem to never end. The truth is that you don’t really need an hour every day to stay fit—you can do an intense workout in only 15 minutes. Here are a few reasons why short workouts are actually more effective.

Fast Results

Studies have shown that despite the fact that they last for only 20 minutes, short intense workouts can show results faster than steady workouts. This is due to the fact that they boost your cardiovascular health and metabolism and burn major fat.

More Focus

Shorter, intense workouts are great for improving your concentration too. They require more focus because you need a lot of strength to do all those high-intensity exercise in a very short period of time.

Burning Fat

The reason why shorter workouts burn more fat is because the body experiences a shortage of oxygen during intense exercise. Well after the workout is done, your body is still burning calories because it’s using more oxygen in order to recover and repair muscles.

There’s No Excuse

Last but not least, HIIT workouts last for only 15 to 20 minutes and you can even do them in your living room. We’re definitely more likely to stick to a workout routine when we know we need only a few minutes to complete it.

If you’re trying to stay fit at home, you’re probably using YouTube as your main source of inspiration. Many popular workout channels on this platform heavily rely on high-intensity training, and here are a couple of steps you should take to ensure you aren’t overdoing it with HIIT workouts.

Dealing with Burnout

There’s nothing necessarily wrong with HIIT workouts, but too much of a good thing can be bad and lead to injuries and burnout. That’s why it’s extremely important to have rest days and avoid doing high-impact workouts every single day.

Muscle Endurance

Before fully committing to HIIT, you should make sure your body can take it. Start things slow, and implement resistance exercises, such as squats, planks, and hip extensions, into your routine. They’ll help you improve your muscle endurance and they’ll strengthen your core.

Switching Things Up

Doing HIIT workouts isn’t the only way to burn calories and get your heart pumping. Switch up your routine by adding some low-impact cardio to the mix and take part in some outdoor activities while the weather is still nice.

HIIT workouts experienced a huge rise in popularity in the last few years, but not everyone finds it easy to adapt to them. If you still find their intensity intimidating, fitness influencer Ashley Joi shared some useful advice that will change the way you approach HIIT training.

Most people feel like they have to give 100% during each workout, but Joi doesn’t think that’s necessarily true. The fitness trainer discussed her approach to HIIT with Body + Soul and shared the method she believes leads to much better results.

“The secret to getting results is working at around 75-90 percent of your maximum effort for the working phase to get your body into that fat burning zone. Putting your heart rate at that level forces your body to adapt to the demands of the workout and pushes your metabolic response,” explained Joi.

Joi also pointed out HIIT sessions aren’t just a great way to burn fat. They’re also amazing for your cardiovascular system and muscle endurance. She also shared a couple of useful tips for people who are getting back into their routine—keeping your sessions short, taking rest in between, and making an effort to track your progress.

HIIT training is undoubtedly the biggest trend in the world of fitness right now, and many people can’t imagine a day without it. Nike prepared a special surprise specifically for them – a new pair of high-performance shoes perfect for this kind of workouts.

Nike’s new drop will include three brand-new sneakers – Air Zoom SuperRep, Cycle, and Go. They wanted to accommodate fans of HIIT workouts, who have to go through dozens of different movements during each session, by creating a shoe model with the right kind of cushion and support.

Nike Air Zoom SuperRep is coming our way next month, but we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to try Cycle and Go models. Jamie Jeffries, vice president and general manager of Nike Training, explained these sneakers were made with rising fitness trends in mind – including HIIT, self-guided workouts, and SoulCycle.

“Fitness classes are booming around the world. Working out is its own sport, and Nike’s SuperRep shoes are designed to deliver on the performance needs [that are] specific to these activities,” said Jeffries in a statement.
