The post Why You Should Try Blindfolded Yoga appeared first on yourdailysportfix.com.
]]>Before you try this at home, try attending a blindfold yoga class. Your teacher will choose a sequence of movements especially suited to doing this kind of yoga, so you can practice safely and avoid injury.
Doing yoga blindfolded removes all other distractions so you can really focus on your movements and your breath. If you feel your mind drifting in regular yoga, try a blindfolded class and you’ll really feel the difference.
Proprioception is your body’s way of sensing location, movement, and action. Blindfold yoga is a great way to improve your proprioception system and heighten senses other than sight.
Blindfold yoga can help deepen your practice and enable you to connect to your body on a new level. By feeling your way through the asanas, you can improve your awareness, focus, and self-acceptance.
It can be easy in a yoga class to watch the other participants and compare your body and your abilities. This can often lead to negative thoughts and disrupt the flow of your practice. By wearing a blindfold, you can focus only on yourself and not worry about how others are doing.

]]>If you find yourself relating to this description, Yoga with Adriene’s 30-day yoga journey is just for you. The journey (which is a somewhat less intimidating word for ‘challenge’) is titled “Breathe”, which is reassuring in itself, and it’s meant to help ease you into a daily yoga routine with minimal effort.
One option for starting the journey is simply going straight to the free 30-day playlist on the Yoga with Adriene YouTube channel and go to town. But the preferable option is simply signing up right here, which means you’ll be receiving daily reminders of practices with unique messages from Adriene throughout the journey. This should really help keep you committed to the process, rather than giving up when things get a bit challenging
“It’s a journey,” Adriene writes on the journey’s subscription page. “Choose to be disciplined about that. Arriving to the mat to begin will be the most challenging part. Get yourself to the mat each day to take a breath and together we will sort the rest.”

]]>One of the nicest things about the Yoga with Adriene YouTube channel is that it offers workouts of various lengths and with pretty much every possible theme you could think of. So here are three morning yoga sessions (they’re short, promise!) that will help you start your day right.
Let’s start with the shortest one for the lazy folks! This one is only 5-minute long and is done mainly on all fours, combined with a few downward dogs.
Next, we have another short 11-minute practice, so you can still definitely make time for it before you go to work. Stretch it out with some vitalizing morning yoga postures.
Finally, if you’re looking for a slightly longer one (but just slightly), here’s another lovely workout by Adriene. This one is 15-minute long, and offers a little more posture-diversity than the previous two. From basic morning stretches to all the classic yoga poses like forward folds, half-way lifts, planks, warrior variations, downward dog, and even star pose.

]]>The post What You Should Know Before Your First Yoga Class appeared first on yourdailysportfix.com.
]]>One of the biggest questions you might have is what to wear to your first yoga class. Don’t worry, you don’t have to spend a fortune at Lululemon just because you’re going to one yoga class. As long as what you wear is comfortable, allows you free range to move, and won’t fall off when you contort yourself into various poses, you should be fine.
We highly recommend showing up to your first yoga class early. That way, you’ll have time to complete any necessary registration procedures, get your bearings, and tell the teacher that it’s your first class (they’ll be gentler on you that way).
More than any of the poses or the postures, yoga is really about breathing. Any time something is hard, just breathe through it. Listen carefully to your instructor’s cues about when to breathe in and out. It really is important.
If all else fails, know that you can always go to child’s pose. There’s no shame in it, and in fact, it’s encouraged to take this resting posture instead of pushing yourself to do something you’re not ready for.

]]>There are tons of types of yoga offered at many levels. Experiment with the different types until you find something you enjoy.
Not every teach works for everyone, so try a few different teachers until you find one you like.
It’s easy to not like yoga if you feel like you’re not good enough. Like any workout, you shouldn’t expect to be amazing during your first class. Make sure when selecting a class, you find one for beginners, so everyone is at your level.
Instead of looking around and comparing yourself to others who have more experience, focus on yourself and let go of judgement or comparison.
Props like blocks, straps, and cushions make the yoga experience more comfortable and enjoyable.

]]>Make sure you bring towels to cover your mat as you’ll get super sweaty—the rooms get up to 100 degrees! Also, bring a hand towel to keep by your water bottle for when you need to pat down your face. Don’t forget a third towel for showering after the class!
Bring a lock so you don’t have to worry about your valuables getting stolen, you don’t want to be thinking about your stuff throughout the whole class.
To ensure you get a spot, arrive early so you have to time put your stuff in the locker room and set up your mat. If you arrive late, you may be locked out, which is awkward and will ruin your experience.
Your first week at CorePower Yoga is free and unlimited! Yes, you read that right—free. If the classes aren’t what you were hoping for, you can try another one that’s a better fit for your level and fitness goals. There’s no harm in trying because you aren’t spending any money.

]]>But no worries, we are here to help you prepare for your first ever yoga class in the most perfect way.
To calm yourself, you can always look into the beginner-friendly poses, and maybe practice them in advance. But it isn’t crucial. The most important thing is to read through their names and look at their pictures to get the idea of what you will be asked to do.
If it is your first yoga class ever, you should let the instructor know before class starts. The instructor will then keep an eye on you and help you with the poses. Also, don’t forget to mention if you have any injuries or you are pregnant.
Eating heavy meals right before your yoga class is a big no-no, otherwise, you may start to feel sick. A light snack before class is okay.
