As far as sporting events are concerned, the New York City Marathon has to be one of the most famous. First held in 1970, the race covers all five of the city’s boroughs and is the largest marathon in the world.

This year’s event will take place on November 6, with 50,000 runners set to compete. The 26.2 miles will see amateur runners going up against professionals, and even celebrities! Nothing evens the playing field quite like collective muscle and joint aches.

Amongst the big names who will be donning their sneakers and hitting the tarmac for the 2022 NYC Marathon are Ashton Kutcher, Ellie Kemper, and Lauren Ridloff.

“I’ve never run a marathon before. I’m terrified,” admitted Kutcher. The Two and a Half Men star has been training on his Peloton treadmill and will be running to create awareness for his non-profit organization, Thorn, which aims to end child sex trafficking and child sex abuse.

After having run last year’s marathon, Catfish host, Nev Schulman, is back again and will be raising money for NYRR Team for Kids which provides access to running and fitness programs to youth across the United States.

“Training for a marathon means training your whole body,” Schulman shared on Instagram. “Before I hit the gym, I get a little run in to get the cardio up.” He then switches to cross-training which he loves as he says it improves your all-around fitness. Core and mobility training are also included as they are the best way to prevent injury.

If you’re also running the NYC Marathon, good luck!
