3 Childhood Activities That Are a Great Workout

Remember how when you were a kid you would effortlessly run around playing tag and do the monkey bars? Children are in great shape, and part of the reason is that they do so many activities just for fun that are actually a great workout. So consider re-incorporating some of the following activities into your fitness routine. Not only will you have a blast, but you’ll get a great workout while you’re at it.

Jump Rope

Jump rope, fun as it may be, is basically just jumping in place over and over again, something that definitely can get your heart rate up and help you work on plyometric power. Experiment with different variations to further challenge your body.

Hula Hoop

Hula hooping actually requires quite a bit of strength as you use the muscles of your core, glutes, hamstrings, and calves to keep the hula hoop in constant motion. It’s a great low-impact exercise and warm-up.

Skip-It

If you can get your hands on a skip-it again, you’ll find that this toy, which requires you to swing a ball on a rope around one leg while jumping over it with the other, really burns some serious calories.
