When it comes to fitness, setting goals is important as it gives you the chance to measure your progress and it motivates you to go further in order to achieve those goals. It’s easy to make some common mistakes though, and fitness trainer Jen Widerstrom spoke about them to Shape.
Thinking Your Body is the Enemy
Your fitness routine isn’t a battle against your body and you shouldn’t treat it like an enemy. If you give it too much to work, you can easily stress it out and then get frustrated because it’s not giving you the results.
Relying on Social Media to Set Goals
Other people you see on social media have their own bodies and fitness goals that don’t have to be the same as yours. Copying the diet or a routine of a famous influencer won’t necessarily give you their results, because you likely don’t know the whole story.
Choosing the Wrong Goals
It’s important to be realistic when setting fitness goals and to check in with your current state of fitness and health. It needs to make sense for you personally and if that doesn’t click, you probably won’t see the results you want.
