Do you love running, but it’s just too hot to run outside right now? Over the next month, the temperatures will increase, making it even harder to workout outside. But, you can get just as good of a workout on the treadmill without having to suffer from the heat and humidity. Here are three reasons to run on the treadmill instead of outside.
Training Post-Injury
The treadmill is a softer surface and it puts less pressure on your joints which equals fewer risks for injuries as well as less stress and inflation for recovering injuries. While running on the treadmill, you can ease yourself back into running by setting a relaxed pace and not over-pushing yourself.
Motivation to Increase Speed
When running on the open roads, it’s easy to slow down even when you’re trying to increase your distance and speed. But on the treadmill, you have to keep up with the speed of the belt. You can also slightly adjust the speed to push yourself harder, which makes the run more exciting.
Inclines
If you’re training for a race with steep incline climbs, you need to run in a place that mimics this. Not everyone is around hilly areas, and on the treadmill, you can play around with the inclines to build your endurance and improve your form.
