3 Reasons You Should Unplug During the Week

In the age of literally everything being online, from work to social activities, it’s hard to find times when a screen isn’t present. We’re constantly controlled by the pinging of a text or other notifications. This is why it’s so important to spend time each week “unplugged”. Whether it’s a full day or just an hour, having that intentional time built in to be away from a screen is so important for your health. These are just three reasons why you should try to unplug every week.

You Will Sleep Better

Looking at a screen all day is not only straining your eyes, but it’s impacting your sleep. Blue light confuses your circadian rhythm, which is why putting your phone away an hour before you sleep can help you fall asleep faster and sleep deeper!

Your Relationships Will Improve

Do you ever find yourself with your friends, partner or family, and everyone is sitting in silence on their phones? How connected do you feel to them at that moment? Probably not much. When you intentionally put the phones away, you are not only allowing full connection to happen, but you’re also telling your loved ones that connecting with them is so important to you, you’re willing to put the world away.

You Will See That There is More to Life Than What Exists Online

Think of your favorite memory—it could be recent or from childhood. As you’re in that memory, think about how many screens were present. Were you on your phone, or was it a moment when you and loved ones were fully present with each other? We’re willing to bet there were very few—if any—screen present. If the best memories are offline, try to be intentional about making more.
