While on the beach, all you want to do is feel the sun on your skin, but you can get an amazing workout while doing this. Exercising on the sand is fun and it challenges your body. Whether you choose to do full-body workouts or want to play some sports, the beach is a great place to get a workout in. Put on some sunscreen, grab a water bottle, and head to the beach to do these fun workouts.

Mini Bootcamp

Workouts are always more exciting when you have a friend sweating along with you. For this workout, you and a friend will alternate moves with one person running in the water and once it’s deep enough to swim, swimming 20 strokes in and 20 strokes back and running out of the water. While they’re doing this, the other person does bodyweight exercises like burpees, planks with shoulder taps, or air squats. Then you’ll switch off. Sounds fun, right?

Play Volleyball

If you’re looking to burn a lot of calories and to improve your speed, agility, and hand-eye coordination, play beach volleyball. You’ll have so much fun diving for the ball and you’re muscles will ache afterwards. It’s a great way to meet new people while getting exercise in.

Go For a Run

Running on the sand with bare feet is much harder than it looks. Your shoes provide cushion, so the muscles that aren’t usually used while running will be activated during a beach run. Make sure you don’t push yourself to hard, as you probably won’t be able to run as long on the beach as you run on the treadmill or outside.

Go Kayaking

If you’ve kayaked before you know just how much of a total body workout it is. Not only will your arms be sore, but your upper body and core will be doing a lot of work. It’s a great way to get some cardio in.

Water Workout

Bodyweight exercises such as squats, lateral lunges, skaters, and jumping jacks can be done in the ocean. Make sure the water comes up to your waist so you get the resistance of the water.
