Ryan Reynolds’ Trainer Explains the Importance of a Good Night’s Sleep

Don Saladino had an opportunity to train some of the Hollywood’s biggest stars in the past, including Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but one of his most important fitness tips is surprisingly simple – just get a good night’s sleep.

The celebrity trainer recently shared a couple of useful fitness tips with Slate, and said it’s ideal to get between seven and nine hours of sleep every night because your fitness routine might suffer if you start messing with your sleep schedule in the long run.

“If you’re not in that range for a long period of time, hormone levels are going to just start plummeting. Testosterone levels, cortisol levels – everything is going to start getting out of whack to burn fat, energy levels, repair, recovery, all that,” explained Don Saladino.

The personal trainer believes you’ll feel better and more motivated for a workout when you actually wake up rested, and his heart is in the right place. Make sure to remember this advice if you’re sacrificing your sleep. It’s better to hit the gym three times instead of five times a week and get some sleep in between than to feel tired every time you’re there.
