If you have a dog, especially a younger one, then you know they tend to be absolutely full of energy. And if you’re looking for fun ways to stay in shape and get some movement and cardio in your day-to-day, then playing with your dog is a great way to do that. Plus, it will make your furry friend extra happy! Here are three pup-approved games that are also great for your body!

Water Games

Splashing around in the water is tons of fun for dogs who know how to swim, especially on a hot day. If you live near a beach, take them out to the water and run on in with them! Make sure not to go too deep so you can keep ahold of your dog. If you have a backyard, you can also use a kiddie pool or a sprinkler and run, chase, or just jump and splash around with them!

Tug

Lots of dogs think tugging on a rope is just the best time and for you pulling the rope away and trying to hold it while your dog bites down with all its weight will work out your upper body, especially for bigger dog owners. It’s also a good way to train them not to bite, as if their teeth come in contact with you you can simply stop the game consistently so they understand exactly what triggers “no more fun”.

Dogstacle Course

An obstacle course for your dog! You can set it up with household objects, and then you can run through it with your dog or take turns with them. This will be great fun for the dog and will work off lots of energy—plus it’ll be a fun workout for you as well!
