Holiday-Themed Virtual Runs to Do This Year

From Thanksgiving to New Years’, many people participate in holiday-themed runs. But this year, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many races to be canceled and virtual runs are the new norm. Virtual runs have all of the hallmarks of regular races—you can support a cause and wear a bib and race shirt, but you also can plan your own route and run at your own time. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, check out these three holiday virtual run events.

A Christmas Story Virtual Run

If the swag for this run wasn’t enough—A Christmas Story branded zip-up hoodie, beanie, and medal—the run benefits St. Jude Children’s research Hospital. Any day throughout December for $40 you can run a 5K or 10K.

Run for a Claus 2020 Virtual

This race which is usually based in Southern California has gone virtual this year. At $35 for adults and $20 for kids with a 5K or 1-mile option, you’ll get a Santa hat and beard, stocking, ugly sweater gator, and a medal with Santa wearing a face mask. You can run any day throughout December. Part of your entrance fee supports the Salvation Army.

8Ks of Hanukkah

Christmas-themed runs aren’t the only option. This Hanukkah-themed race, allows you to run 4K, 8K broken up over 8 days, or 8K in one day. With various days starting December 10 and at $45, upon signing up for the race you’ll get a long sleeve shirt and medal and your registration fee helps raise money for the University of Michigan Hillel.
