How Many Hours Sleep Should You Get Every Night?

Great night sleep is a key factor for having optimal health, feeling great, and being productive. A recent study conducted by the National Center for Cardiovascular Research in Madrid, Spain showed that “people who slept less than six hours a night were 27 percent more likely to have body-wide atherosclerosis than those who slept seven to eight hours a night,” as UPI quoted lead researcher Jose Ordovas.

Those who sleep over 9 hours per night are at higher risk to die sooner (38%). This habit is often related to depression and low levels of physical activity which only enhance the risk.

The ideal duration of sleep should be 7-8 hours per night. It’s also important to go to sleep and wake up approximately at the same time every day.
