We’re always looking for a little bit of an edge with everything we do in life. Whether it’s baking a cake, riding a bike, or working out, ideally we want our performances to be at their optimal level. And yet, shockingly, we don’t consider all of the options when they’re staring at us right in the face. For instance, someone who struggles with finding the time to exercise might actually just be doing it at the wrong of the day. Here’s why this happens, and how to overcome it.

Life Overwhelms Us

As we go through life, it can be hard to balance everything we need to do. Weighing all of our responsibilities can be quite daunting, and as a result, we just try to get everything done “whenever the time allows it.” In other words, we work out whenever we have free time, and sometimes that “free time” is the wrong time.

You’re in Control

In order to work out at the time that’s right for you, you need to be playing chess while your obstacles are playing checkers. You need to stop reacting to everything going on in your life, and instead, get on top of everything, and make them play by your rules. You can still can all of your responsibilities done and also achieve your own personal goals—when there’s a will, there’s a way.
