Ice skating is one of the most popular winter sports, but if you’re thinking of hitting the ice rink this year, you should prepare for several major changes. Here’s a couple of things you should keep in mind to keep your ice skating adventures fun and safe in the age of social distancing.
Planning Ahead
Capacity at ice rinks has been reduced under different guidelines in each country, often at under 50%. Since only small groups are allowed, it’s good to pre-book your ice skating session if that option exists at your local ice rink.
Right Timing
If you want to avoid the crowds, ice rinks are best avoided during peak time. If you can book a session before noon, you won’t run into many people, especially if you’re going there on workdays.
Safety Guidelines
Ice rinks may be operating under limited capacity, but it’s still extremely important to follow the guidelines. Don’t try to show off and always try to keep a safe distance, sanitize your hands and equipment according to safety measures, and remember that wearing a face-covering is encouraged, even when not specifically required.
