Stretching on a daily basis for only a few minutes is a great way to improve overall health and reduce your risk of injuries. But there are better ways to do it than others, if we’re being quite frank. Here are a few great tips that will help you stretch properly every single time.

Warm-Up

Many people think that warm-up and stretching are basically the same things, which is why they often skip warm-up exercises. This mistake can make your workout less effective or even lead to injuries, so make sure to always warp up your muscles before stretching.

Stretch Daily

Stretching for only 10 to 15 minutes every day is very important if you want to see some results such as improved flexibility and mood or reduced back pain.

Take Your Time

It’s important to hold your stretch long enough, for about 20 to 30 seconds, in order to stretch muscles properly and see the results of your workout. On the other hand, avoid holding your stretch for more than a minute because this can make muscles stiffer or lead to injuries.

Know Your Limits

Feeling mild tension in muscles while stretching is normal, but if you have any pain then you’re stretching incorrectly or pushing yourself too hard. Either way, this means it’s time to stop, otherwise you might get injured.
